Sat, 16 January 2010 So, after a very long delay (all Nathan's fault - he is sooooo lazy) episode 22 is here for your listening pleasure. Well, you can listen to it, but due to some technical difficulties (like a microphone being dropped) the sound quality is not brilliant. Our apologies! This episode we ramble about what we have and have not been playing and then ramble a bit more about post-apocalypse games. The big news, though, is we are going to dump comments completely (don't try commenting to this post!) and try a forum. The link is here. We are hoping this will allow even more intereaction with YOU, our loyal listeners, and give us a little more control over spam-masters and ugg boot purveyors! [00.00] Intro [14.11] On Our Radar [26.30] The Apocalypse [53.30] Final thoughts Thanks for all your support and patience, awaiting this episode. The christmans / school holidays are almost over and things should be back to their regular schedule very soon! Please, come visit us over at the forums! Nathan & Marty Comments[0] |

Sun, 8 November 2009 So this episode we give you a roundup of what we've been playing and have a quick chat about Dragon Age before getting into a discussion of super heroes - movies, games and... umm... stuff in general. We do get a bit carried away talking about super hero movies and franchises, but do eventually bring it back to gaming! Our usual breadth of gaming discussion has been a bit restricted due to Nathan's distraction with the National Novel Writing Month, but hang in there people, because December is on the horizon, along with a host of holiday gaming releases! Let us know, via email or comments in this blog, what you think of our "discussion" episodes. [00.00] Intro Movember - please donate to this great cause [12.45] On Our Radar [23.50] Super Hero films [49.13] Super Hero Gaming HeroPlay - classic Marvel Heroes RPG Savage Worlds - Necessary Evil As always, thanks for listening, leave feedback on itunes, and tell your friends about the show! Mon, 26 October 2009 ![]() Hello and welcome to another exciting episode! We mix it up this time around with an episode that comes in under 1 hour (and they said we couldn't do it!) and have a discussion on the genre of horror and gaming, rather than just a review of games. Marty and I really enjoyed putting this episode together, and if you like it we will try to do more like this in the future! Intro [00.00] On Our Radar [20.20] Dragon Age Origins (computer game) Horror discussion [32.00] As always, we encourage you to leave your reviews on iTunes! Tue, 13 October 2009 Slightly late but chock full of great content (as usual!). Marty has been very busy with his game playing and Nathan, well not so much. Luckily we have a couple of great interviews from GenCon Oz to share with you, and the long awaited review of Penny For My Thoughts. This is a big episode, so get listening already! Tue, 29 September 2009 Okay, slightly late, but jam packed with details about our trip to GenCon Oz. We must admit, we kind of go on about GenCon Oz a lot. If you aren't interested then you might just want to listen to the intro and the wrap-up. But we have some awesome stuff to talk about, and this episode we share with you an interview with Jason Bulmahn, lead designer of Pathfinder. If you are one of the fabulous people we met at GenCon, or you simply heard about the show because of one of those little blue cards we left all over the place, welcome! This is an atypical show, with a lot of talk about GenCon. We will be back on track with a regular episode in two weeks! Please, please (please!) leave iTune reviews, or visit podcast alley (or even better, do both). [00.00] Intro [18.45] GenCon Oz [60.00] Jason Bulmahn interview [67.00] The Board Room

Tue, 25 August 2009 ![]() This episode we talk about some of the things from GenCon Indy that caught our attention before inviting a few friends around to chat about our expectations for GenCon Oz. We appreciate the help of our friends Jason, Duff and Robert on this episode. James helps everyone get to grips with the Board Game Geek website in this installment of The Board Room. Thanks to everyone for their feedback on the episode structure and website. We have recieved a heap of comments and emails on the topic and really appreciate it - it shows you care! We are still trying to strike the right balance between giving you an entertaining show in a format you like and being able to put the show out regularly. We haven't mastered it yet, but we are working on it! What do you think of the current website? We think it is a happy medium for the moment between the old one that was plane, functional and hard to update and the "test" one that requires a little more expertise on our part before we commit! Also, Robert let's the "cat out of the bag" this episode about our T-shirts and other merchandise. Click the store link on the menu at the top of the page to check out our "stuff". Everything you purchase helps support the show. Keep the feedback coming and please write itunes reviews.

Sun, 16 August 2009 Only one week after our last episode we provide you with more exciting content. It turns out, recording two episodes at the one time comes with its hazards, like forgetting to introduce ourselves at the start of the episode – if you’re new to the show we are Marty and Nathan! This episode is a catch up with our emails and a free RPG review. The point of this weekly episode “exercise” was to see whether people wanted more regular, short episodes or longer fortnightly episodes. It wasn’t done very well, if we say so ourselves as these “short” episodes have turned into hour-long epics anyway! Still, we want your feedback! Also, we are looking at changing our webpage setup and hosting. This will not affect anyone that uses iTunes or another podcatcher, but will hopefully make things easier for anyone that visits the site to download each episode or leave comments. We have set up a “test” blog at http://www.perilplanet.com/blog for you to look at and test drive. Once again, feedback is important! Sat, 8 August 2009 This episode we chat and chat and chat about the games we have been playing and our spending habits. W give a couple of brief overviews of Penny For My Thoughts and the card game Gloom before cutting everything short and promising to have more for you in just one week’s time! This is an experiment and we want listeners to tell us whether they want regular short episodes (even though this one turned out quite long!) or fortnightly mega-shows. Wed, 24 June 2009 This episode we have our very first guest, Riley, who talks with us about Dungeons and Dragons 4th Edition. This episode concentrates almost exclusively on D&D, but we will be back to a wider discussion of topics next episode. Just a quick reminder to people that can get to Newcastle (Australia!) on July 4th – indie games will be on the agenda at the Every Gamers Guild and Nathan will be running sessions of his own game Space Rat. A good friend of the show, Andrew Smith is flying down from Brisbane to run games too, so come along and join in a game. Sat, 11 April 2009 ![]() We made our two-week deadline – hurrah! This episode we do our first comprehensive review as well as talk about a variety of other games and we launch our very first listener promotion! Also, we forgot to mention them, but there are two events coming up very soon; Leviathan is a game convention held on April 19 and 20 at Quaker's Hill High School (that's Sydney). You can get more details at the WargamerAU forums; Go Play Brisbane is an event that promotes the play and enjoyment of indie roleplaying games and is on April 25 at Ace Comics and Games, Annerley. Find out more at; Things discussed this episode;
There is a bit of background noise in this episode, as the recording was done at nathan’s place and his kids are in holiday mode! Apologies if this makes things distracting at times. Wed, 18 February 2009 It took more than three weeks, but it appears that I have mastered this new-fangled technical computer stuff. I can even enter blog entries. Umm... Lets start again... Welcome! Welcome to our humble podcast, where Marty and Nathan (that's me) will share their thoughts on tabletop games. We're Australian and live in Australia (incredible, isn't it?) - Newcastle specifically - so anything we talk about is going to be biased by our Antipodean simplicity. That's great news for Aussie listeners, because it means you have a homegrown podcast that talks about a great variety of things of interest to you. It's also pretty good news for those listeners unfortunate enough to not live in the Lucky Country (yes, Australians have the audacity to claim their's as the "lucky" country, I am not sure why, since you had to be pretty unlucky to score a bunk on the First Fleet way back in 1778, but I digress...). Why is it good news for you non-Aussie types? Because everyone loves listening to the drawl of the Aussie carrying on about goodness-knows-what for hour after hour... don't they? Anyway, listen to the show and let us know what you think. We would appreciate any feedback. We apologise for the rediculous size of this first episode - it's only an hour long, but being new to this whole podcast thing I recorded in stereo then lost the original file so have no idea how to reduce the remaining mp3 to a smaller size. Obviously a rookie mistake - I have learnt my lesson and promise future episodes will be friendlier in download size! - Nathan & Marty Category: podcasts -- posted at: 4:18 AM Comments[67] |
